| UPDATED DECEMBER 29, 2001 Just a quick note to say that I have added some more content to the website. Visit the Scholarship page and the Photo gallery to see the changes. UPDATED DECEMBER 27, 2001 Merry Christmas everyone! I had a great holiday and I'm looking forward to the week off that we have left. I will be adding more pictures and information in the VERY near future. Until then, take care! UPDATED NOVEMBER 20, 2001 Hi everyone. Not much is new with me. I've been extremely busy with school and other community events. I also found out that I won the Canadian Track Athlete for 2000-2001. Diane Cummins is the other winner. I am also the recepient of the Dr. Fred Tees Award for an outstanding track athlete enrolled in a university. I am also pleased to announce that this website has been awarded the 2001-2002 Golden Web Award. In other news, Tara Wright was the first winner of the Lisa Franks Scholarship. I will be adding her biography and a picture once I finish off my film! Exams are approaching so that means that I will have no time to work on this site :( I will make up for it after exams though! That's it for today. Take care. UPDATED OCTOBER 20, 2001 I finally found some time to work on the site!!! I have included pictures from the wedding & Toronto, and a few other minor changes. Hopefully there are no more serious problems, but if you do come across one, please notify me. I am heading to Moose Jaw on Monday to speak at the Catholic Health Convention - wish me luck! Oh, and I heard that they will be replaying my appearance on the Vicki Gabereau Show sometime next week. Tata for now! UPDATED OCTOBER 16, 2001 Hi! Yes - I know the website hasn't been updated in a few weeks, but hopefully soon I will get some free time! I am still waiting to upload pictures from the wedding and from Toronto, so please have patience. Some of you may have had trouble accessing the site in the past few weeks. This is because I have been getting quite a few hits on the site. Geocities decided to shut down my site for a few hours in the day. Fortunately, the problem is almost solved, and now you can reach this site by the address www.lisafranks.net !! Unfortunately, the photo gallery and some of the other subdomains still can't be accessed during certain parts of the day. I plan on having everything working great this weekend! Also, Happy 2nd Birthday Colton & 19th birthday Mands! Peace. UPDATED SEPTEMBER 29TH, 2001 Hi everyone. I had a great time at the conference in Toronto. With everything that has been going on lately, it was very refreshing to meet some really great people. Everyone was really cool and I hope we'll be able to keep in touch. Today I competed in a wheelchair relay. I will post some pictures from the relay, Toronto, and the wedding soon! I also was just elected to the VPRA as Female Sports Rep. I'm looking forward to midterms which are just around the corner. Cheers. BTW - I added more articles. UPDATED SEPTEMBER 18TH, 2001 I'm heading out to Toronto on Thursday for a conference so there won't be any updates this week. When I return I will try to get the wedding pictures up. See you later. UPDATED SEPTEMBER 12TH, 2001 Hello all!! Well, things are starting to pick up at school. I've already got a few things due for next week. I forgot how much time it takes to do the work, but this year I am going to be VERY organized and things will be great. I will be adding pictures from the wedding sometime this week, and maybe even a few pics of the rezzie & engineering events I've attended already this year. Well, not much is new. Kelly & Tara bought a house and they will be moving this month. I'm loving it here in toontown. It's great to see all the people here because I really missed everyone over the summer. I'm heading to Toronto next week for a few days. The Foundation for the Millennium Scholarship is flying all the national winners out there for a conference. It should be very informative. Well, back to class I go! Enjoy next few weeks because soon there will be snow on the ground!! UPDATED SEPTEMBER 7TH, 2001 Hi everyone. I'm here in Saskatoon and so far I've been having a great time. Almost too good. I had my first classes today so no more fun for me! The wedding went great last week. Now I'm looking forward to sibling week with rez & engineering!! UPDATED AUGUST 30TH, 2001 I'm in Saskatoon right now preparing for my brother's wedding. It is in 2 days!!! I'm also moving up here for the next eight months. Classes start on the sixth. Don't expect frequent posts for the next few months because I will be busy with that little thing called school :) I'll try to keep everyone updated, but no promises! Take care everyone. UPDATED AUGUST 24TH, 2001 Hey guys! This will likely be my last post for the next few days because I am going to be extremely busy. Today was my last day at work. I am looking forward to the next week, then back to Saskatoon for my brother's wedding. I also just found out I received another scholarship. It's for Peer Mentoring and it will help out a lot with school. Enjoy the rest of your summer! UPDATED AUGUST 23RD, 2001 Congrats to everyone that competed in London. The golf tournament has been cancelled, but the breakfast will still take place. I have added tons of new stuff including a message board, a poll, a way to recommend this site, and a better introduction that should work with Netscape. Visit the Interactive page for the new tools. I'm working on the other pages for all you Netscape users. UPDATED AUGUST 22ND, 2001 Only three more days of work!! Then I am moving to Saskatoon in September. My presentation at the Legislative Buildings last week went really well. The Celebrity Breakfast is only three days away. I have redone the Career Results page and the Biography. I've also added some sports pictures in still format. Hope you like it. p.s. Good luck Stef, Jenn, Tannis, Ryan, Micheal, Theresa, Lacey, Sylvie, and the others in London! UPDATED AUGUST 16TH, 2001 Hi everyone. Just in case you haven't heard, Jeff Adams placed second in the 1500 meter at the World Track & Field Championships. Chantal Petitclerc and Diane Roy placed fourth and eight respectively in the 800 meter. I have added some more pictures in slideshow format. They're action shots of me playing various sports (some are quite vintage!). You will need IE to view them. UPDATED AUGUST 15TH, 2001 I've added more articles and hopefully the new biography will be up sometime today. Besides work and training, nothing else is new. Perhaps no news is good news. Good luck to everyone at the Canada Games. Wish I could be there! UPDATED AUGUST 13TH, 2001 Things are getting under way for the few speaking engagements that I have left this summer. For more information click here. I have added some more pictures to the slideshows & photo gallery. There are pictures from the long weeknd in the Friends show, a few more pictures from the parade in the Parade show, and one more picture from the Western Premier's Banquet in the Community events show. I found out that I won two more awards for school yesterday. The Lottie V. M. Teale Scholarship & Bursary are given out by the Canadian Paraplegic Association. That's all for now! See ya L8R =) p.s. I'm thinking of making this site in French, so if anyone feels like translating, let me know! UPDATED AUGUST 7TH, 2001 I hope everyone had as much fun on the weekend as I did! Candle Lake was a zoo - there were sooo many young people there. Our volleyball team did OK in the tournament. We were ranked 3rd in our pool, but then we fell apart in the playoffs. Oh well, we had tons of fun. I've been working a bit on the site. There is an introduction for potential sponsors, and I put up some information about the golf tournament that's being held at the end of August. Stay tuned for some pictures from the long weekend. I hope to have them up by the end of the week. Take care. UPDATED AUGUST 1ST, 2001 I've been working on a new format to view my pictures. Check out the slideshows and see what you think. I would really appreciate any feedback on the loading time, etc. There still may be a few bugs in the formatting, so let me know if you encounter any. I think I will be changing the Homepage a little, so don't be surprised when you come next time and nothing looks familiar! I'm heading to Candle Lake tomorrow. Maybe I'll see some of you there. Enjoy your weekend!! I know I will. UPDATED JULY 30, 2001 Today I added another entry in the newspaper article section. I will also be adding another section called "Thank-you"s or something like that. Hopefully I will be done that tomorrow. Well, besides work, training, and working on this website not much else is new. I'm going to Candle Lake for the long weekend. Anyone who wants to come play some beach volleyball is welcome! I found out that we do not need a lottery license to raffle off my pinset (read July 4th's entry), so the event will be taking off very quickly!! Once again, contact me if you want a chance at winning the set. I just registered for the first semester of school. This fall is going to be extremely busy with speaking engagements, the wedding, and of course that little thing called school :) C'est tout! Au revoir. UPDATED JULY 24TH, 2001 Hi folks! Not much is new with me. I've been adding more pictures to the Gallery, so check out the Paralympic, Events, and Friends pages. I went to Saskatoon this weekend to see my nephew Colton. He is going to be 2 years old in October. He is the cutest little thing. I just found out that my Millennium scholarship will be renewed next year, so that kind of means I have to return to school for the whole year. There go my plans for Australia :( Hopefully something else can be arranged. Plans are continuing for the golf tournament and breakfast that will take place August 23-25. Let me know if you are interested in attending (*shameless plug*). If you want to meet another up-and-coming wheelchair racer, visit my friend Stef's site. Well, that's it for today folks. See you later. UPDATED JULY 19TH, 2001 Hey guys! I just found this **awesome site** and you absolutely MUST check it out!! You will laugh until your stomach aches. The site contains comics about a guy in a wheelchair (Leeder) who pushes the boundaries. They're soooo true it's remarkable! Hope everyone appreciates the humour. UPDATED JULY 17TH, 2001 I competed in my first roadrace this past weekend. I did the 20 km in just over an hour and four minutes. I was the first woman to cross the finish line despite the fact that I had a huge cramp in my side for the last 11 kilometers. I don't think I'm ready to compete in a marathon yet! I have added a few 'extras' to the site. Check out some video clips, a few news articles, some speeches I have done, and sponsorship news. Keep visiting because I will be adding more pictures to the photo gallery sometime this week. Please sign my guestbook on the main page as well. Have a great day everyone. UPDATED JULY 9TH, 2001 Yesterday I returned from my competition in Toronto. I was incredibly happy with my performance. I won all of my events, and set new world records in the 400 and 1500 races. I was especially excited when I won the 100 meter. I managed to beat the competitor that won gold in Sydney by one one-hundredth of a second. Unfortunately it rained on the day of the 800 race, so my goal of attaining that world record was not reached. Maybe next time. I am considering moving to Australia in January for a few months to train for the World Championships. It would mean that I would have to miss the second semester of university, but I think I am willing to make that sacrifice. I'll just wait and see what happens! Keep visiting my website for updates and added content. I am planning on including a section with speeches that I have made, as well as adding some more pictures. UPDATED JULY 4TH, 2001 Well, I have been working at Sasktel in Moose Jaw for over two months now. It is a good job, but I am incredibly busy! I am still training five days a week. I am leaving for Metro tomorrow. Unfortunately I have the flu right now, but hopefully I will get over it before competition starts. On top of work and training, I have been doing a lot of events around the community. I have spoken at a few grads around town and I am getting accustomed to speaking in front of large crowds. I have been getting involved in many charity events around the province. I started a scholarship fund that will be presented annually to a graduate from Peacock. At the end of August, we will be holding a golf tournament and fundraiser. I will be speaking at a breakfast and attending the weekend's activities. If you are interested in attending the golf tournament, please contact me or Hank. It should be a good time and we want tons of people to come out!! I also have another event coming up. I donated my medallist and Team Canada pin set to Moose Jaw Search & Rescue. They had the set mounted (it looks really great) and they will be raffling it off. The draw date has not been finalized yet, but it likely won't be until December. Tickets are available by contacting me. I can hardly believe that the summer is half over! I will be returning to the University of Saskatchewan in the fall to start my second year of Engineering. I will be sad when the summer is finished, but I am also looking forward to seeing all of the CRAZY people in Saskatoon. Have a great summer everyone!! UPDATED MAY 25TH, 2001 Well, I survived my first year of University! I must say the last year has been unforgettable. After I wrote my last exam in April, I went to Ottawa for the Summit on Sport. I also visited the House of Commons where we were introduced and given a standing ovation by all of the Parliament members. I moved back to Moose Jaw at the end of April, and started work at Sasktel. It's a really good job for the summer. I will not be able to compete as much as I had expected this summer, but I will be attending Metro in July. For now, I am trying to enjoy the summer. Oh, and I am looking forward to my brother's (Kelly) wedding that is at the beginning of September. UPDATED MARCH 14TH, 2001 Well, a lot has been happening since my trip to Australia. Moose Jaw held a parade in my honor, presented me with the key to the city, and named a week after me. I returned to university a few days after my return to Canada to resume my studies. Shortly after I returned to Saskatoon, I received a phonecall from the Vicki Gabereau Show. They flew me out to Vancouver and I went on their talkshow. It has been aired a few times, so it's great exposure for the Paralympics. It seems like every weekend I am going to some sort of banquet or function to do public speaking. I never imagined that I would be able to speak in front of hundreds of people, but so far it's going well. I am involved with the SaskSport Speakers Bureau, so things should really start picking up after I'm done school! I managed to make it through my first semester of university fairly well. There is certainly a big difference between high school and university, but so far I am enjoying my classes. I am considering taking the 2001-2002 year off from school so that I can train seriously for the World Championships, and so that I can do more public speaking. I went to Toronto in February for the Great Valentine Gala. It's a charity event put on by the Canadian Foundation for Disabled Persons. It was a great event, and I was presented with the King Clancy Award for making a contribution to society. It was a very elegant evening, and my friend Tara and I had a blast. On March the 8th, I was named the 2000 Saskatchewan Female Athlete of the Year. It was the first time that I was eligible for the female category, and I was surprised to be chosen as the winner over Catrina LeMay Doan. She has received the award for the last three years. This summer I am planning on going to some competitions in Toronto, Georgia, and possibly Switzerland and some others in the United States. I can't wait until the summer so that I can travel and relax! |
